Geelong is Victoria's second largest city and is a located on Corio Bay and the Barwon River approximately 75 kilometres from the state capital of Melbourne. Geelong is a popular holiday destination for Victorian families and provides an excellent choice of accommodation, attractions, tours, restaurants and shopping opportunities.  Geelong also provides easy access to Victoria's famous Great Ocean Road and the Bellarine Peninsula.

The first non-aboriginal person record as visiting Geelong was Lt. John Murray who arrived on 1st February 1802. Geelong was named in 1837 by Govenor Richard Burke from the local Wathaurong aboriginals name for the region of 'Jillong'. Geelong grew rapidly and prospered during the gold rush of the 1850's as the many ornate and historical buildings suggest, but it wasn't until 1910 that Geelong was proclaimed a city.

We hope your Geelong experience is enjoyable and that you find the information presented within this site useful and informative.
